Meet the Founder

Lisa Hassell is a creative powerhouse with 20+ years of experience in the industry —part artist agent, part creative coach, and 100% champion of emerging illustration talent.

As the founder of Inkygoodness & Inkygoodness Collective, she’s built a thriving global community where artists, illustrators, and creative businesses connect, grow, and get inspired.

Her mission is to break down the barriers to getting into the industry by helping creatives find their feet (and gain confidence!) as they navigate their careers. From design writing and public speaking to curating exhibitions and running her own illustration agency, she’s done it all. So far, she’s mentored over 1,250 artists and illustrators worldwide, guiding them to level up their careers and creative practice with incredible growth and life changing results.

In 2021, she launched Inkygoodness Collective, an online membership designed to help creatives sharpen their skills, build their network, and navigate the industry with clarity and purpose, further supported by their flagship programme Make Your Mark Bootcamp.

Incredibly passionate with an unbeatable work ethic, she's experienced her fair share of imposter syndrome and knock-backs over the course of her career - yet it's her unique personal experiences, genuine empathy and unapologetic authenticity that arguably sets her apart.

If you're an artist or illustrator craving a mentor — Lisa’s got your back!

How we started

Lisa’s journey began like many emerging illustrators—graduating without a clear plan. After moving to Bristol, she tapped into the creative scene and launched Inkygoodness in 2008 with an exhibition featuring 25 UK artists. This passion for bringing creatives together led to sell-out shows in London, collaborations with top illustrators like McBess and Good Wives & Warriors, and the launch of WE ARE GOODNESS, a boutique illustration agency (2014-2019).

She also launched and ran Glug Birmingham (now Gather) for several years, curating inspiring events where local creatives could connect, learn and share their stories—helping pave the way for Birmingham Design Festival.

With 15+ years in the industry as an agent, writer, mentor, and coach, Lisa continues to champion emerging talent—curating talks, mentoring sessions, and business workshops to help artists and illustrators build thriving creative careers. 🚀

Why our members love it

"I joined Inkygoodness with literally nothing, and two years later I have one published book, agency representation, and another book deal to start in 2025. Seeing the work Lisa has put into this community over the last 2 years has been amazing, she listens to our feedback and adds more value all the time. I feel so heard and respected!"

Ginger Ngo, Toronto

"Joining Lisa's coaching programme was like an adrenaline shot to my illustration career and really catapulted me in the right direction! I put systems in place to support my routine, mental and physical wellbeing and also focused on my short and long term goals and made steps to working towards them each day, be it just posting on Instagram or a regular basis or reaching out to a dream client."

— Lynn Bremner, Melbourne

"I love the sense of community,  I’ve made some good friends and connections. I love that everybody understands that there is a space for everybody in this industry, and we all here to support and learn from each other."

Andrea Davalos, Prague

"It’s been amazing to connect with many different artists around the world, which wouldn’t have happened if I wasn’t a member. It’s great to watch talks by some of my favourite creators too. Taking part in creative challenges has taken me in directions I wouldn’t have considered otherwise!"

— Maciek Łazowski, Warsaw

"There’s no end to things to learn in the creative business and it’s essential to connect with artists locally in Helsinki and internationally inside the community. I get to spend time with likeminded people and have the collegiate support that I think as a freelancer, would be impossible to access without Inkygoodness Collective."

— Ville Salvero, Helsinki
